“Education needs to keep pace with changes in society”, believes Jason Last, dean of students at University College Dublin. D2L spoke to Mr Last as part of D2L’s University of the Future series, gathering the thoughts of leading institutions across Europe.

The higher education sector faces pressure to continually attract the best applicants, to make them work-ready and to deliver a more personalised learning journey; all challenges that have been exacerbated by Covid-19. 

Mr Last believes that universities must “strike a balance between drawing on our decades, sometimes centuries, of knowledge and experience and combining that with an ability to flex and adapt”.
